The Troll Is Coming Sooner Than Expected

The Stanwood-Camano troll is now set to arrive in April 2027, six months ahead of schedule, if we reach our funding goal.

We have big news to share: the Stanwood-Camano troll is now set to arrive in April 2027.

We had been planning for October 2027, so this brings the troll six months closer. Thomas Dambo will create it from reclaimed wood, and the whole community has helped get us this far.

Where we are

We are now at 50% of our fundraising goal. That’s thanks to everyone who has given so far, and to everyone who came out to meet Thomas and his wife, Alexa, during their visit this fall. They left Stanwood-Camano with a deep appreciation for the welcoming community that is making this troll possible.

The April date depends on raising the remaining funds, so every gift between now and then helps us hold it.

What stays the same

The troll will be a permanent part of our community, and it will be free and open to everyone. The exact location will stay a secret. Trolls like to be found by curious people who wander, and we want to keep that part of the magic.

How you can help bring the troll home

  • Give. Sponsor levels run from $10,000 to $100,000, and each comes with recognition on the website, in project materials and at the opening celebration. A gift of any amount is just as appreciated, and you can set up a recurring donation if you’d like to spread your gift out. Donate here.
  • Volunteer. We need help sourcing materials, providing meals during the build, assisting with fundraising, and more. Sign up here.
  • Spread the word. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and share the news with friends and neighbors.

The project is fiscally sponsored by the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

What’s next

We’re planning another event in early 2027, where we will unveil a rendering of the troll. We will share details here and on social media as soon as they’re ready.

Thank you for helping make this happen. April is closer than we thought, and we can’t wait to see you there.
